I agree with the other reviewers this is things I already know and have heard over and over. I was looking for something with more of a natural approach and this is not that. So if that's what you have in mind(natural approach) do not buy this book.

This is one of the better books on this topic. They prefer that you see an allergy specialist rather than a GP."The incidence of food allergy is much higher for children than for adjutls - 8 percent of those under three, and rising." The author claims that adults have outgrown food allergies which lowers it to 2% for the general population. The best part of the book was where he told parents if other people don't consider you "neurotic" then you are not being vigilant enough protecting your allergic child. The only "fault" the book may have is there is nothing offered as a reasonable cause for the epidemic of food allergies. Science can now look at live blood, we have so much research that has been done, but no one really knows what causes food allergies? Why is it that undeveloped countries have almost no food allergies?

As a general practice pediatrician, it pretty much tells you a lot of what I have often shared with my patients already. The book is informative, reviewing a lot of detail you would not otherwise get from your physician in even a few appointments.While a catchy title, the book sounds like it will offer some sort of countercultural message. The book does not do this, for those who are looking for that sort of information.Most importantly, the information we have learned over the last 7 years or so has changed and some of the information in the book has quickly become outdated (e.g., a more nuanced view of maternal allergen avoidance, or highly allergenic food introduction in infants). Let's hope a newer edition of the book is in the works, perhaps with a more straightforward title.

There is significant evidence that the root cause of many, if not most, cases of asthma (and many allergies as well) is deficiency of magnesium. This fact is discussed in detail by Dr. Carolyn Dean in her excellent book The Miracle of Magnesium. Dr. Dean recommends that all asthma sufferers take supplemental magnesium daily -- 600 mg daily for addults (proportionally less, according to their body weight, for children). People with asthma who follow Dr. Dean's advice about daily magnesium supplementation often improve dramatically even if they have continued to struggle with asthma under other treatments which omit magnesium supplementation. For your child's sake, please read Dr. Dean's important book and follow her advice regarding daily magnesium supplementation. It may well be the most important thing you will ever due to relieve this terrible ailment. By the way, although a variety of magnesium supplements are available, and beneficial, chelated magnesium -- which is readily available in most health food stores -- is the most effective.

I found this book to be a regurgitation of what I had already been told by two pediatricians regarding my 4 year olds recently diagnosed asthma. Nothing new here at all. I was surprised that the doctors do not seem to acknowledge the large role diet plays in a condition such as asthma. I am not a doctor, however, even I can see the significant link between diet and health. Since my son's asthma diagnosis a month ago, I have dramatically restructured his diet and began supplementing him with magnesium. Guess what?! My son has shown significant improvement over the past 3 weeks! Even his allergies seem to have improved. I am proud to report my son hasn't taken a single asthma or allergy medication in two weeks. If you are resigned to a life of medication and supporting the multi-million dollar pharmaceutical company's, then this is the book for you.

This book is a good book to help define and aid in the understanding in causes of Asthma and different allergies, but I was hoping for more information that I could use at home to help reduce chances for asthma attacks and my son's allergy induced asthma.

I am so glad I read this kindle book. At first I was hesitant because my husband died 8 years ago and was concerned this book would be depressing and bring sadness to my heart. It had the opposite effect. I knew hospice and hospice nurses were wonderful, but this book helped me look at death in a different way. Eased some of my own fears about dying. I am so glad this book was written and I was able to read it. When it's my time to go and if I am i hospice I pray I have a hospice nurse like the one who wrote this book. This book should be at all hospice houses.

This book was all I hoped for and more! Getting first hand accounts from someone who saw death on a regular basis and was able to articulate the process in such a manner that was not at all depressing, and even had me laughing and crying at the same time! I feel like I've sat down with the author, shared a cup of coffee, and talked in person! Great job! With this book, she continues to help ease the minds of people who question the process of dying.

Excellent look at what hospice looks like from the eyes of a hospice nurse, and engagingly written. I found myself eagerly looking forward to the next story, macabre as that may sound. It's short (about 160 pages) but reasonably priced.There are good deaths, there are bad deaths, and there are needlessly awful deaths. I will never forget the description of the daughter who so desperately wanted to "help" her dying father that she tube fed liquids until they were literally coming out of the dead man's nose.Unless we are the first among our friends and family to die, chances are we will have to watch someone we love die. Hospice is a good option for many people; it is not the right option for everyone. The author takes pains to tell a story where hospice was NOT the right choice, actually added to the dying woman's suffering, but the family was insistent upon it.While we can't control dying, and there are many things about it we cannot change, there ARE things we can choose: for ourselves, and for our loved ones, that make the transition from this life to what comes next, a bit easier. I highly recommend this book for those who are faced with their own imminent demise, or that of a loved one.I recommend it even more for those who are not currently facing these kinds of situations, so that you can ponder the "what-if's" when you're NOT emotionally charged.

I found this book to be most informative whether you are the patient and in need of hospice care, or you are the care giver. Yes, it can be a bit scary but it's way better to be informed than not. Information is powerful. This is well written, and not so heavy that you need to avoid the issue. I loved her out of body experience, and am so glad she shared it, as I had an experience with that too, thinking I was ready for the funny farm for a long time. I'm not so alone now. THANK YOU for this book from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I feel that so many people could benefit from Hospice care if more health care professionals would be open, honest, and compassionate with their patients. Both of my parents were in Hospice and I continually encourage anyone with a terminal illness to seek out the wonderful care they can provide for the entire family.

I enjoyed this book because of its ever rarer authenticity about interactions with people, and the author's candid depiction of her memorable (and sometimes dangerous & confrontational) experiences with the dying and their families. The big surprise is the author's own experience with death, and her revelatory experience therein. This book delivers a message of reality with biological processes that is intertwined with a spiritual undertone throughout. A timeless message of relationship in a time of broadening tchnological isolation.

I chose to read because our daughter in law is a hospice nurse. I've always appreciated what she does, and now I definitely respect the things she does to assist the dying! More prayers for these dear workers. I couldn't stop once I started reading.

I will have to say the author really did not hold anything back when writing this book, or so it seems. She was up front, honest, and very compassionate.I really would love to see more nurses like her.Sadly, computers and government regulations interfere with being able to do more hands on in medicine. Even the new doctors are not old school in how they treat patients. They had a more hands on approach, too. Well, Heidi, as a retired health care worker, I applaud you for this book and your work in helping dying patients. Thank you so much for a great book. I too, have been there and done that and understand what you went through. An by the way, I surely know the problems of having a nasty uncaring boss, who is more interested in money than the poor patient!

He is also the author of High-Speed Digital System Design (Wiley). HOWARD L. HECK is a Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation, where he leads development of the signaling specifications and solutions for USB 3.0. He also teaches high-speed digital interconnect design at the Oregon Graduate Institute, is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and holds five patents in the area of high-performance packaging and interconnects, with five more pending.

The book has some great information, but the formatting could be much friendlier. Often there are 3 or more equations for the same calculation that are used as the material is introduced and additional complicating factors are included, but that is not made clear, leaving confusion about which form of the equation should be used. Reformatting to introduce the important final result, then working through the development of the result would be good. Or some other formatting method to make the important final result equations and summary stand out from the intermediate simplified steps

Brilliant collection of techniques for successful high speed design. I recommend it to anyone studying SI.Would buy again!!

This book is an indepth detailed and mathematical explanation of signal integrity. I fully recommend this book to learn about the basics and the details of signal integrity. I started reading this book with a background of electronics but only a brief understanding of signal integrity. This book got me up to speed with everything I need to know for the modern electronics industry and provides an important reference in my library. I fully recommend it.The only failing of the book is that it can be a little too mathematical. With completely equations of various effects provided but nothing useful (if less accurate) that you can use on a day-to-day basis to make design decisions with.

I work with Howard Heck in committee. These guys wrote an excellent treatise on the subject.

I recommend it to other SI engineers that are looking for more advanced SI information. For me, there were a fair number of sections that helped fill in the gaps on my understanding. Which is great.

A really good book! Written by signal integrity engineers at Intel who know the problems of SI firsthand and the modern solutions to those problems.

Good quality

Heck and Hall have done a fantastic job in summarizing both the theory and practice of solving today's SI issues. The math behind topics such as linear network theory, frequency-dependent dielectric effects and filter design for equalization is rigorous, yet ample space is set aside for practical guidance as well. Of particular note is their thorough treatment of hot PCB SI topics as dielectric loss and surface roughness modeling, and preservation of causality in transmission line models. Transmitter and receiver equalization (DFE and CTLE) are well-described, as are analysis techniques such as peak distortion and bit-error rate. Finally, their summary of response surface modeling (RSM) approaches to desgn of experiments (DOE) is perhaps the first and certainly the most comprehensive overview of those methods as applied to PCB SI design available today. A book well worth purchasing if you are involved in SI modeling, SI simulation or PCB design.

Isabel Wilkerson can write. Her book reads with a wonderful flow. I will wait for her next book and will read it. I hope it does not take her usual 7 years of research. This book did not "do it" for me. It was soooo loooong --- much of it reads like an almanac . I learned more than I wanted to know about black migration from the south. Wilkerson definitely learned too much in her research, and told it ALL. By the end of the book I didn't care about the characters, Ida Mae, Robert and George were just vehicles to get the facts down on paper. The characters were real enough but the stories were lacking. I did not enjoy this book. It was a struggle to read.

I would give this book a thousand stars if I could. I'm very grateful to the author and everyone she interviewed for sharing these stories with me.This book has deeply affected me. Others have reviewed the content, writing style and extensive research. My comments are of a more personal nature.Until I read this book I would have told you I (a white Southern woman in her 50s) was particularly well-informed about the experience of African Americans, having read almost all of the authors she quoted in the book and many she didn't, including Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston and more contemporary authors, having studied the civil rights movement from my armchair and seeking out African American theater, arts, and friends. I was wrong. I was ignorant. I didn't know about the Great Migration. I had picked up bits and pieces of the extent of Jim Crow from my reading, and I had read them from the perspective of someone who wanted to draw from their experience without being, apparently, very curious about the context of it. This book, these stories, opened my eyes by putting the experiences in chronological order and in context. Without ever being maudlin, divisive, or melodramatic, the author struck a tone that allowed the reader, me, to feel the power of these stories. The author did a great service to the people she interviewed and her readers by allowing us to decide how we feel about these stories. She confidently and brilliantly presented them in a matter-of-fact manner and in the exact words of the person describing their own experience, trusting, correctly that their emotional impact would not be missed. By focusing on every day experiences rather than sweeping generalities, the book allowed me to see the insidious and pervasive nature of Jim Crow, how it affected every moment of every day, how no action could be too insignificant to be viewed as a threat to the social order and therefore to involve the risk of one's life. I had no idea that it was illegal for black people to work outside the cotton fields or orange groves, nor did I have any idea it was so dangerous to leave the south. These lives and stories are deeply, deeply affecting. It helped (although it hurt emotionally) to simultaneously read The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander and The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, a novel about apartheid in South Africa.I personally thank the author and everyone she interviewed. Deepest gratitude.

I have been telling everyone I know about it and one well-placed friend is buying hundreds of copies to share with friends in Africa who are perplexed by the predicament so many Black Americans find themselves in to this day.The Warmth of Other Suns paints the picture as compellingly and completely as anything I've ever seen or read. As the stories of desperation, ambition and flight unfold, the reader can see just how many ways the American Dream was yanked away, hidden or otherwise made inaccessible to one generation after another. George, for example, could have been so much more than a railroad porter. He wanted to be more. He TRIED to be more. He even went to college at a time when that was all but unheard of for a young black man from the citrus belt of Florida. Danger and deprivation robbed him of that opportunity and all of the possibilities that would have come with it. Instead, he ended up an overworked denizen of substandard housing, with broken knees and bad kidneys from all the years of picking oranges and tangerines then stacking and unloading luggage on railroad runs along the eastern seaboard. Meanwhile, his New York-born-and-raised children -- not privy to the "village" atmosphere of family and child-rearing of George's native Southland -- were left to fend for themselves in the impersonal, take-a-number concrete jungle of an overpopulated city and, with limited options, spent their energies on getting into, or ducking, trouble. The reader can just see the State of Black America take shape.This is an absolute masterpiece by a virtuoso writer. As I neared the end of it, I got the blues, knowing how much I would miss reading it. So, I did what any right-thinking person would do: I read it again.Please do yourself a huge favor and read this. I recently started working my way through the financial engineering explained book series... I have not read them all yet, but this book stands out clearly above the rest from my point of view.As with all of the explained books, it suffers from not delving deep into any topic. This makes it harder to understand points as the book goes along further without utilizing resources outside of the book. This book, unlike the others, has excel workbooks that you can review to further your understanding (which is a real boon to the reader).The author mixes in more practical experience (mostly euro focused) than the other books of series too. I can honestly say, I am looking forward to reading the second part of this book too.P.S. my favorite tidbit from the book was the example of building a discount curve via matrix inversion. It brought a smile to my face how easy it was to recreate via a python console with numpy...

This will sound very nit-picky - but if I had been paying attention when I purchased this - I actually wouldn't have. I am very visual, and prefer cookbooks that have pictures. As a brand new Vegan - this is critical for me. I am less likely to go out on a limb and try new recipes, if I can't see what it looks like. This one only shows one pic per section, at the beginning for one of the recipes in the section. I got the "Fuss-Free Vegan" cookbook by Sam Turnbull at the same time. Now THIS cookbook is AMAZING. It delivers in every way. If you are new to veganism like me - GET IT.

Mine came today and I poured through it! First, I love food and love to cook. This book is amazing! Well done Dustin❤ Great recipes and great intro's for each chapter and each recipe. I learned to love food and cooking from my Grandma and when she passed I declared each week I would honor her by making a new recipe each week and called it What Would Grandma Rita Make (WWGRM)...well here is to What Would Dustin Make. I am going to try a recipe each week. I mean you had me with anything with coconut milk. My mouth watered reading about lentils, butter nut squash risotto,savory granola,shaved cabbage and brussel sprouts with mustard sauce and black bean taco chili. I cannot wait to try! I have pages earmarked! Take this as a huge compliment from a ravenous carnivore who loathes meatless Monday at the work cafeteria. Kudos to you on a great cookbook.

I ordered this cookbook and It does have many recipes. Disappointed to find that there are hardly any pictures. At the beginning of each chapter, there is a picture of the food the chapter represents.(like kale for greens or grains for grains) Other than that, there are very few pictures of the recipes themselves, maybe one per chapter. I am very new and inexperienced at plant based foods and being a visual person, I would like to see what looks appetizing to try, as that's important to me in trying new recipes, I will never use this book so it was returned.

Hmmmmm.....my understanding of "vegan" is no animal products. Imagine my dismay when I saw recipes within the first several pages calling for Parmesan cheese, butter, or mayonnaise....☹️

Whether you are new to plant-based eating and need approachable breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert ideas with easy-to-find ingredients or if you have been vegan forever and want new, simple go-to recipes (especially for those busy days), this cookbook is a MUST HAVE! It has clear, foolproof instructions and the fanciest tool used is a slow cooker, so you do not need to be a chef with a gourmet kitchen to end up with a delicious meal or dessert. The icing on the cake are the recipes for vegan kitchen staples like mayo, sour cream, and other dressings and sauces. There are also quickly searchable icons for gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free dishes, as well as recipes that take 30 minutes or less! I have a sweet tooth, so my favorite recipe so far is the salted coconut-almond fudge! Happy eating!

This cookbook is fantastic! I am not vegan, but have been trying to get more veggies in my diet and this book is the perfect tool for doing just that. Easy, assessible recipes without the need for fancy ingredients but does not skimp on variety or complexity of flavors. I also love the layout and how the chapters are divided by general ingredients first and then broken down further into meal type and specific ingredients in the back. The favorites I've made have been the Chickpea Hush Puppies, the Kentucky Baked Cauliflower, the BBQ Hawaiian Tofu Bowl, and the Churro French Toast! (Yes, Churro french toast! Stupid tasty!). Great for home cooks and experienced chefs alike!

Being both gluten free and vegan it can be tough to find a cookbook that fits the needs for both easily, or that doesn’t require a lot of time to work out swaps and modifications that would work. I love that the recipes are flagged in this book. I also really like the additional tips at the ends of the recipes, it gets the creative juices going for other modifications that may work.I agree with other reviewers in regards to the visuals. I’m also a very visual person so I really enjoy when there is an image of the dish alongside the recipe. More images would have made the cookbook that much more enjoyable.However, visuals aside, this is a great starter cookbook for vegan eats. But, it’s also really handy for those of us that have been vegan for awhile to have a less involved recipe to pull out. I’m looking forward to trying many of the recipes (or sections - hello avocado and lentils), and have bookmarked some to get started with.

I have been been a project leader or manager for over 30 years in various types of business settings. I have seen a wide variety of processes applied to the management of projects and have to say that Project Team Leadership and Communication by Samuel Malachowsky, PMP is gold!Having worked my way through many texts, college classes and employer-sponsored training programs this is one of the most comprehensive resources I have seen yet. It combines valuable information on management, leadership, and team and project structure and processes.The exercises were right on point because they enabled the reader to be reflective on the material that was shared and how it could easily be put to use. The questions were thought provoking and immediately allowed the reader to think of situations where the techniques could be applied. The resources and tools also provided invaluable material.I highly recommend this book for employer sponsored training programs classroom curriculum or reading material for individuals or companies who are looking for concise yet comprehensive project essentials.

I was searching for a book on Agile and the Oracle add on Engineering Connector and found this one. The Agile discussed in this book is about software development. The software I was interested in is a CAD Data Management tool. Our company is implementing a new software tool across several global design centers. The project roll out isn't going as well as I hoped from a user point of view. I like how the book is easy to use from a new Project Manager point of view and works well from as a reference guide to experts for a refresher on the basics. I feel like it summarizes the best that all industries are supposed to follow when it comes to projects no matter what the scale or team. The convenient cross references makes for easy use of the information being learned in each chapter. I don't have an MBA but feel like I can use this in my career and my personal life to help manage my time better. I have been studying each chapter when I can at work. It's easy to pick up where I left off because the topics are short and effective. I'm not bored by long page after page too long didn't remember what I read chapters. They are great at holding my interest for long study sessions or quick study breaks to get to the next chapter. I'll keep it on my shelf and use it as a reference tool to apply to what ever project issue I may have. The index and topics flow real well to get the answer I'm looking for. Well done.

Deeper dive into communication, team dynamics, and some of the baseline expectations of a project manager or team lead.

An excellent book with phenomenal insight into leadership and how to lead. As someone whose career goals include leadership on modern software teams, this book provided exceptional advice and tangible qualities to strive towards and encompass on a personal level. I would in good faith recommend this book to anyone.

The definite guide to project management.

I was searching for a book that helped give me a good understanding around project management, specifically on the Agile model. I found that this book is easy to read and understand, especially for new a Project Manager. This book is a great resource to have in any personal library.
